BSA National High Adventure Base

Troop 211 has three treks going to Northern Tier BSA National High Adventure Base (www.ntier.org) this summer. We have three currently unfilled slots. Rather than letting them go unused, we are offering them to qualified, compatible Scouts from Old Peublo District or Catalina Council.
Our treks will traverse Quetico Provincial Park and the Boundry Waters Canoe Area beginning at 2:00pm on Sunday July 1 at the Atikokan Base in Ontario Canada and ending at 8:00am July 11 at the Ely base in Ely Minnesota.

World Scouting with JOTI

World Scout Jamboree on the Internet

What is JOTI? Well, the acronym stands for Jamboree On The Internet. Is it new? No – this was the tenth year that it was held. Now to answer the question of what exactly is JOTI...

From the JOTI web page (www.joti.org)

The World Scout Jamboree On The Internet (JOTI) is an international Scout Meeting on the Internet which takes places every year on the third weekend of October. This is an official event of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. During that weekend, thousands of Scouts from all over the world meet and communicate with each other over the Internet, using any technologies locally available, from web browsers to e-mail, chat programs, microphones, scanners and digital cameras.

OP District Advancement Committee

Important Update

Eagle Projects WILL NOT be accepted without SIGNIFICANT LEADERSHIP DEMONSTRATED. Collections include, but aren't limited to: food, book, shoe/clothing, and blood drives. In rare cases scouts ARE able to satisfy the eagle board that they have demonstrated adequate leadership by collecting items or blood drives. A good example of a blood drive: 1) scout plans and organizes and leads a group volunteers (other scouts, friends, workers on the project) and lures hundreds of blood donors to get their blood drawn by several nurses/doctors (phelbotomists) that were recruited by the eagle scout candidate's PERSONAL effort to do this drive and then the scout organizes the drop off/donation of the blood to a hospital or blood bank during and/or after the collection. A bad example (what happens in 99% of the blood drive requests): 1) scout hangs up a couple of flyers announcing a blood drive then and calls the Red Cross, which plans, organizes and DOES the scout's eagle project for him and does not allow for sufficient leadership.
